Shoes

Grandma Rita and Grandpa Mike, Mav must have been thinking about you today. He brought me his black shoes from Roatan and begged me to put them on him. He had to get in his closet and reach up high to get them out of his shoe rack. I was amazed that he could even get to them. So, we put them on and he ran around the house in them for a couple of hours. The funniest thing is that they're still so big, but that didn't seem to bother him.

Greg and Phyllis came over tonight to have dinner and play with Lilly. Lilly was doing so well. She hadn’t been sick in several hours. But, up it came again. Phyllis was holding her and up it came. I don’t know if this is turbulents anymore.

December 20th

After airline delays, Tammy and Lilly arrived about 2:00 am this morning. We're all a little tired, but we're having a good time. Poor little Lilly has been vomiting. We're thinking that maybe the turbulents on the plane upset her little stomach. She’s a trooper. She’s still up playing and carrying on with Mav. He seems to think she’s o.k. this time. He walks up to her and says “Lilly Cry” “Lilly Sick” She giggles and laughs at his goofy little faces and moves that he does around her. He’s quite the little entertainer.

December 18th

December 18th. Mom got to move out of the hospital into their hotel room today. She seems to be much more comfortable at the hotel. She took a shower today and washed her hair this seems to have really given her a boost in the right direction. She told me they even have English tv in the hotel so she got to watch her soap opera! Her leg seems to be working better and better everyday. One of her friends on the mainland stopped by today and brought her body lotion, soap, etc and I think it really made mom’s day.

I finally got my tree up today! Everything seems to take just a bit longer with a two year old, but he's worth it!
December 17th

December 17th . Mom still sounds good. She’s having problems with her left leg, but the Dr is assuring her that it’s very normal. She seems to be having some pain, but they’re working to get it under control. She told me today that Dad has been great. They’re so lucky to have such a strong bond and marriage.

Me Ma and Papa gave Mav his first Christmas Tree!

December 16th
Talked to mom and dad today and they both sound great. Dad sounds rested and mom is in really good spirits. It’s tough for them to understand exactly what’s going on because none of the nurses or dr’s speak English. I woke up in the night wondering if they new the Spanish word for pain, but dad assured me that he had his Spanish/English dictionary with him and they were doing just fine.
Retirement
A good friend of ours retired from the Highway Patrol today.
Congratulations Maurey!

More December 15th

Dad called about 9:30 tonight and mom is out of surgery and in recovery. The Dr said the surgery went great and that they were moving her into intensive care. However, the rules are a bit different there and dad is not allowed to see her tonight. Oh well, it might work out for the best. I think he really needs to go to the hotel and get some rest. They sold the house that they were living in on the island and they have to be moved out by tomorrow. When dad knew mom was getting sick he put on a pot of coffee and worked all night to get the house cleaned and ready to be closed up until the new oweners arrive. Then they left in the morning for the hospital, so he hasn’t had any sleep. He sounds super tired, but I’m sure he’ll be rested and ready to help mom recover in the morning. That’s all I know for now. I’m exhausted physically and mentally and this point and I just need some rest.
2006 Christmas Program

Tonight was Maverick's first Christmas program. We had no idea what to expect. When we pulled into the parking lot you would have thought we were at a rock concert. There were cars and people everywhere! Both the East and West side schools were involved in the program, so there were approximately 400 kids, their parents and their grandparents! It was mad chaos!

Dad and me dropping Mav off in his dressing room before the show.

The family anxiously awaiting the performance!

Mav did really well for the first couple of songs.

Then, he caught a glimpse of us and there was no keeping him on the stage! He came running off the stage and everyone laughed. He was the star of the show. We have video of the performances but I'm having trouble getting them to upload. I will keep trying.

Getting Ready.

Mav has his first Christmas program tonight and we're so excited!!!

Here are a couple of pics of the little man all ready to go.

December 15th.

We are all set for my parents to arrive tomorrow. We’ve had the windows cleaned, the carpets cleaned, etc and we’re ready for company. My grandparents have been here helping with the basement and my grandma has been a cleaning fool. I think my house might be in the best shape it’s ever been.

I talked to Tammy this morning discussing when mom and dad are getting in and when she and Lilly are flying in. She mentioned to me that she talked to dad last night and he said that mom hadn’t been feeling real well, but she seemed to be on the mend. So, I decided that I’d give her a call and check in. Well, she answers the phone and says “Why are you calling me” I told her that Tammy said she wasn’t feeling well and I just wanted to check in. I could immediately tell that something was not right. She proceeds to tell me that she’s in the hospital in La Ceiba (mainland Honduras). She had been in terrible pain all night and they flew over to the hospital first thing in the morning. She had already seen the Dr and they had her scheduled for an emegerncy hysterectomy at 5:00 tonight. I can tell she’s upset and scared but doing her best to control her emotions. I think she was most upset about not being able to come home for Christmas. We talked each other through it and began to realize that everything is going to be just fine, but emotions are running high. Tammy and I talked things over this afternoon and they’re still going to come for Christmas. We’re feeling a little sorry for ourselves and a little lost without mom and dad, but we’ll figure it out. I’m so glad they’re still coming for Chirstmas.

Late Nights.

We've been putting in a lot of late nights the last few days. My grandpa started installing the cabinets this week and we're working just as fast as we can to stay ahead of him. He's doing an amazing job. We're so lucky that it worked out that he could come and help us in the finishing stages. The best part is that my grandmother comes along with him and she cooks, cleans and does laundry while she's here! She's a huge help!

Here's Bryce working during one of our late nights.

Our Cabinets are here!!!

We're so excited...our basement cabinets were delivered today!
We weren't sure that the semi was going to make it down our block, but he made it.

Kevan, Luke and Donnie all helped unload the truck. Thanks guys, we couldnt' have done it without you.

And of course, Mav was a big helper.

Holy crap, where does all of this go!

No Sleep.

We are still sick at our house. Mav had the flu and now he has a bad sinus cold. I am starting to feel the effects of 4 or 5 nights of very little sleep and I think I have a head cold coming on.

Mav and I trying to catch a little sleep before our cabinets get delivered this afternoon.

Sunday, December 10, 2006

O.k., I'm finally getting somewhat caught up on blogging. It's just been a super busy week. We've had holiday parties, stomach flu and we're trying to get the basement painted before our cabinets get here on Tuesday! By the way, the basement is really starting to look good. I'll try to get a few pics up soon.

P.S. I forgot to mention that the Thanksgiving pictures are finally posted. You'll have to scroll back to 11/27.

Today we had our neighborhood holiday party. It was soooo cold!!
We ended up moving the party into one of the neighbor's garage, but it was still fun.
We had hot chocoloate, ate cookies, had a candy cane hunt and Santa even stopped by for a visit. Mav of course would have nothing to do with Santa.
