New Trucks!

I know, I know, it's less than 2 months until Christmas and birthday, but we were itchin' for a new toy. So, we ran to Target and picked out a new truck! Actually it is a big truck that came with 4 little battery powered trucks on it. Mav is in heaven! (Dad too!)

Basement Update.

Bryce and Greg have been working hard in the basement. The electrical, framing and plumbing are all done. They went and bought insulation and started putting it up today. We should be ready for sheetrock in the next couple of weeks.

New Shoes!

Today was a good day for new shoes. Mav, Gma Phyllis and I all went shopping today to get Mav new shoes. He got the cutest little pair of brown Stride Rite tennis shoes. They'll be great for dressing up or for wearing with camo pants. They're very versatile and even better yet, they're velcro! We're loving velcro right now. Now he has brown, black and white tennis shoes, so he should be set for the winter! Since we were at the shoe store Gma Phyllis and I both had to get a new pair of shoes as well, Maverick insisted on it.

Coffee addict.

I have officially become addicted to coffee. I used to drink the occasional cafe mocha from starbucks, but not anymore. I was chatting with some girlfiends the other night and Candace made us all coffee. I told her that I wasn't really a coffee drinker but she made me a cup anyway. Oh my gosh, it was great. She put french vanilla creamer and a packet of Splenda in it and it was almost like a cafe mocha without the chocolate. The next day I went out and bought coffee, french vanilla creamer and splenda and I've had at least one cup every day! I think I may even ask for a new coffee maker for Christmas!

Old Friends!

There is something truly wonderful about old friends. You know the kind I'm talking about. Friends that you only see from time to time, but the minute you walk in the door it's just like old times. My girlfiend Jenn has a new baby boy and Amy, Sarah, Jenn and myself decided it was time to get together and meet this new little boy, Dylan, and have a little girl time as well. I had a truly wonderful time catching up with these girls and I hope we do it more often in the future. It was so much fun to hear about Sarah's family. She and Chris now have 2 boys, Gabe and Carter and a precious little girl named Ellie. Amy and Shawn have a daughter Macy and a son Ben and they are growing up so fast.

It was such a nice relaxing evening. We had homemade chicken noodle soup that Amy bought at her church soup dinner. Sarah made fabulous cheesecake and I of course brought bread that I bought at Dillons! But that's the great thing...nobody cares! We've all known each other for so long that we don't have to put on any fronts or try to impress anyone. I guess what I'm trying to say is that sometimes it just feels good to have those (for lack of a better term) "old friends" around.

I miss you girls and I hope we do this again soon.

Our Weekend.
Friday night we had an impromtu party in our driveway. We had about 5 sets of neighbors over drinking margaritas and eating pizza in the driveway. It was a little chilly, but we had a great time. The kids were worn out by the end of the night.

I didn't even notice that this older boy was sitting on Mav until I saw the pictures! Oh well, It didn't seem to bother Mav too much.

Saturday we worked around the house and played outside almost all day.
Maverick practiced his jumping and then we watched the K-State game.

Sunday was a cruddy rainy day so we were inside all day! We watched Maverick's favorite new movie "bibbles" (The Incredibles)a couple of times. Maverick likes to say "Dash" and then go running around the house! Overall he did pretty well for having to be cooped up all day. Grandma and Grandpa came over for Black Bean Chicken Chili and then we called it a night.

Maverick's Fall 2006 School Picture!
(22 months)

Don't worry Grandmas, your pics are coming to you soon!

Bryce and I headed up to Salina tonight to finalize the details for our basement cabinets. Mom has done a fabulous job on the design, we just needed to pick the stain color, door styles, hinges, draw glides, molding, etc. I think we have it all picked out and we're just a day or two from getting them on order. It's getting exciting! However, it will totally drive me nuts for the next 6 - 8 weeks until the cabinets are here. Did we pick the right color, style, etc?

Mav is doing well. He's been in a really good mood this weekend other than one meltdown last night. He was hungry and I was trying to make him eat food that he didn't want to eat! He played at Grandma and Grandpa's tonight while we went to Salina and then we all met up for dinner.

Maverick seems to be saying new words every day. Just recently he said "Tacos" and "Thanks Honey" (This one really made us laugh!) He has all kinds of fall activities going on at school. He's been bringing home fall artwork every night and tomorrow we're supposed to take a pumpkin so he can decorate it. We're still not sure what he's going to be for Halloween, but hopefully we'll get it figured out soon. We have it narrowed down to two options, but we're just not sure which one. It will just have to be a surprise!

Our Weekend.

Maverick started running a fever on Friday night so we just hung around the house for the evening. He and I decided to stay home on Saturday and not go to the K-State game. Bryce went to the game on Saturday and had a great time. The Cats pulled it out in the 4th quarter to beat Oklahoma State! Mav ran a fever all day, but didn't act sick at all. We played and played all day long. Today he seems to be completely back to normal.

We had a lazy morning around the house and then Candace and I headed out this afternoon to the Holiday Galleria. This is a fundraiser that the Junior League puts on every year. It was at Century 2 and they have all kinds of exhibitors. Everything from jewelry, home accessories to clothes and toys. We had a great time and I found these fabulous new fall napkin rings!

We gave Mav a haircut tonight and then next thing we knew it was bed time for the little man and it's back to work tomorrow.

I'm a brunette.

I'm not really sure what to think about it, but I dyed by hair dark brown. In fact, it really kind of freaks me out, but I'm trying it out for a few days to see if I can live with it or not!
Maverick's favorite movies.

"Shar Kale" Shark Tale and "Mambo" Nemo

We've seen each of these movies approximately 800 times, but it's just so cute when he says it that we give in and watch them again.

We have lights!

Maverick Update

I had to go to North Carolina for 4 days for work. I've been back home for 4 days now and Maverick wants nothing to do with me. Only dad can open his juice, put on his shoes, watch tv with him, feed him....you get the idea. I'm not sure if he's punishing me for being gone or what is going on. I am glad that he and Bryce have had some time to bond, it's good for them. However, I'm working up a plan to sneak back in!

Mav has a few new favorite phrases.

"Oh Man" - This is what he says when we're watching golf and someone hits a bad shot.

"Yee Haw" - We're not really sure why he says this one.

"Woo hoo" - This is something exciting

"Weeeee" - Again, something exciting

"Hey Wilwee"- When Willie the Wildcat gets close to where we sit at the football games all of the kids come running to get his autograph. They stand and the railing and yell " Hey Willie". Now Maverick stands at the front door and yells "Hey Wilwee".

We had a nice day around the house on Sunday. We relaxed and had French Toast in the morning. Maverick played outside with his make shift sandbox.

Our shrubs were getting a little wild, so I trimmed them back a bit.

Our mums are blooming!

Bryce worked on the basement for about 4 hours and finished up his electrical homework. Next thing we knew...it was Monday morning.

Chad, Chris and Cooper.
Chad, Chris and Cooper came to visit and we had a great time. They came in on Thursday night (unfortunately I was still in Charlotte so I'm not exactly sure what all happened Thursday night). Friday morning they took the two kids over to Grandma Phyllis' while Bryce went to work and Chad and Chris went for a sonogram. The sonogram went great, so it was time to celebrate. We played in the yard, grilled steaks, enjoyed a few bottles of wine (non-alcoholic for Chris) and just really enjoyed chatting with friends. Chad and Chris if you're reading, we really should do this more often.

The guys took the kids yard tubing!

For some reason, they were pretending to be asleep.

Video below.

After a few rounds of running up and down the hill with the tube the guys got smart and hooked it up to the lawn mower.

Maverick and Cooper played so well together. Cooper is going to be a great big sister. Every once in awhile they would just stop what they were doing and give each other a hug.

We had the homer parked in our driveway for a few days and Mav thought he was in heaven. Here's a video of the first time he realized it was in the driveway.

Video below.
I've been in North Carolina for work since Tuesday. I will get caught up soon.
